The outside dog

One day, Marisol and her grandfather find a skinny brown mutt sitting outside their house. Grandfather is worried about fleas and ticks and whatever. But Marisol persuades him to feed the dog leftovers from dinner. Can she convince him to give  this outside dog a home?

Today, I read "The Outside Dog". This is a story of a girl who finds a stray dog near her house. She wants to have him but her grandfather was reluctant to do it. At the end of this story, the girl is allowed to have the dog because the dog prevented a fire. I thought this is a very interesting story because her grandfather, who didn't like stray dogs, comes to agree to have one of them.
